Some slow days after a good start to the season

Hi folks,

Seems we are into a bit of a lull with the southerly flow that has dominated our weather the last couple of days. But the season thus far has been very good as we close in on 400 birds for the month of August which is above average for this site. While Redstarts and Black & whites outnumber all others, we have already tallied 17 species of warbler including the less-than-annual Prothonotary and Golden-winged (photo). Traill's Flycatchers are also being recorded in numbers right now.

Joining us this year as intern is Virginia Abernathy from the Dayton area of Ohio. She comes to us with an undergrad degree from Ohio Northern University and she did graduate work on Brown-headed Cowbirds at Western Illinois University. Welcome aboard Virginia!
